Caramel Pecan Bars

I’ve never made this before but my coworker made it for the Christmas party and it was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. You will love it.

Ingredients

Crust

1 cup butter

½ cup packed brown sugar

3 cups all purpose flour

1 egg, beaten

Filling

3 cups pecan halves

¾ cup butter

½ cup liquid honey

¼ cup packed brown sugar

¼ cup whipping cream

Directions

  1. Crust: combine all ingredients in a food processor or with electric mixer until blended. Press evenly into pan. Bake for 15 minutes
  2. Filing: Spread pecans evenly over crust. In large, heavy saucepan over medium-high heat, mlet butter with honey. Add brown sugar. Boil for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly until a rich caramel colour. Remove from heat. Stir in whipping cream. Mix well and pour over pecans. Bake for 15 minutes longer. Cool completely, then cut into bars.

*Note, my friend adds a sprinkle of chocolate chips on top before adding to the oven the second time. It tastes like a Sweet Georgia Brown!
